Red Bull Wololo Legacy â Heidelberg
Heidelberg Castle became the global capital of Age of Empires when I led the delivery of Red Bull Wololo Legacy. This project was more than a tournament: it was a three-day festival celebrating 25 years of AoE, combining esports, history, and immersive fan experiences.
đ° Hosted the largest AoE tournament ever, with competitions across multiple AoE titles.
đ Welcomed Age of Empires professinals and fans into a historic castle setting while millions more followed the action online.
đĄ Designed a full medieval festival atmosphere â including medieval player banners, drummer monks, and live minstrels â surrounding the esports main stage.
đšī¸ Achieved record-breaking online engagement, cementing the event as a milestone in AoE history.
⥠Key learning: castles are perfect for medieval vibes, less perfect for backstage Wi-Fi.
